I Had to Share This

30 July 2009 · Leave a Comment

Our donor is fabulous. His sense of humor has made what could be an awkward situation much more comfortable. He has been so accomodating.  He was able to change our donation schedule with just a few hours notice. He also refuses to let me go out of my way to collect his sample. He is even delivering to my house at 6am tomorrow because he says that I need to be as relaxed as possible.  This is the email that greeted me this morning. The backstory is that I couldn’t come out to his car when he dropped off his sample last night because I had just gotten out of the bath.

Good morning Cle0 patra;

That was the image that came to my mind. You coming out of your bath top full of milk, herbs and essence preparing you to receive the juice of life. Just like an Egyptian Queen, How fabulous!!

I just had to share this with someone. I am so very lucky to have someone like S as a donor. He and his partner are a welcome addition to our life and extended chosen family.

New Plan

27 July 2009 · Leave a Comment

E 2 was only 99. NP suggested tr!gger Wednesday night. Instead I”m going to trigger early Thurs am (while using OPKs to make sure I’m not going to ovulate on my own earlier than that). Insem before work Thurs, late Thurs night and Friday after work. That will be 0, 14, and 35 hours post trigger. My donor is so incredibly accomodating that I’m sure he’d take time off work if I asked him but I don’t want to. I really can’t take any more time off work this week either. My numerous appointments have been noticed. My supervisor asked today if everything was OK. She knows about the hyp0thyr0id and the P C O S so I just told her I’ve been seeing an endocrinologist to get things straightened out. Only a half truth, right?

Slow Going

27 July 2009 · Leave a Comment

The follicle on my right ovary stopped growing. The one on my left grew 3mm to 15mm and there’s now a 10mm one there too. Waiting on my E 2 level to decide when to tr!gger (Friday’s level was 70). Possible trigger Wed. Insems 0, 18 & 36 hrs post trigger or as close to it as we can and not cut into our work schedules.

Nurse P

Nurse Pessimism called yesterday afternoon to let me know that my E 2 was very low (70) and started talking about next cycle already. Guess they’re not expecting to see much on Monday. I hope I prove them wrong.

Postponed

I had one 11mm follicle on the right and one 12mm follicle on the left. Lots of smaller ones on each. They’re going to recheck on Monday to see if they’ve grown enough. Still waiting to hear from S to see if he’s going to be available mid week for insems.

Try #1 is over

14 July 2009 · Leave a Comment

I woke up to blood and cramps. Called the R E to schedule my ultra sound for next Friday and let the new KD (S) know he was no longer on the bench. He was so very kind. His email said “rest assured we’re going to do it. Whatever it takes, as long as we have to do it. I have faith in my guys”. He did get his tests back and he has wonderful swimmers and is free of disease.

I am trying to see positive in this failure. I’m proud of my body. It did what it was supposed to do. We know I ovulated and my luteal phase was 15 days. I’m glad I have such a patient and supportive wife and donor (and his partner) to see me through this process. I’m hoping the fresh swimmers and 3 insems will do the trick.

I have decided not to switch R Es just yet. We’re going to do at least 3 months of home insems before going that route. I prefer it that way. The current R E will continue to medicate and monitor me but will not do insems in his office because I’m not married to S.
